KESA Update

The KESA team attended the required “KESA School Improvement Day” at the Oakley service center on January 14, 2025. Other schools in attendance were Grinnell, Grainfield, and Weskan. Current staff members on our team are Becky Steiger, Cindy Gfeller, and Lamar Bergsten.
The “School Improvment Day” is part of the Kansas State Department of Education accreditation model known as KESA (Kansas Education Systems Accrediation). All schools in the state are required to attend a “School Improvement Day” this school year, then within sixy days submit their action plan template to the state department.
Our school is going to emphasize English Language Arts Standards Alignment with professional learning. Our PreK-12 classroom teachers will receive training on KSDE ELA Standards to support aligning classroom instruction with state standards.
Our district leadership team will collaborate with Southwest Plains service center consultants, for the staff to receive ELA standards training through professional development in the Fall of 2025.
Educator perception survey will be given at the end of Fall 2025 semester to gauge confidence in implementation for Spring of 2026.
We anticipate teachers will learn how to align their curriculum to include strategies to support and teach ELA standards across all disciplines. In the Spring of 2026 teachers will begin to include strategies to increase ELA performance to move students upward in their academic performance levels

Of the Five Rs, Triplains school has chosen to focus on “Relationships and Responsive Culture” as part of our school improvement and accreditation plan. We believe in addition to our strong academic program, relationships and responsive culture to “obtaining a greater understanding of cultural differences and similarities,” will enhance the success of all students in their academic and life pursuits.
